Return to Play Guidelines

Deer Lakes Softball Association Return to Play COVID-19 Guidelines:

Guidelines issued by the CDC, PA Department of Health, WHO, USSSA Softball and Little League will be followed.  If you or a member of your household is feeling sick, you are asked to not attend a DLSA game or practice.  If you or a member of your household has been exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 patient in the last 14 days, you are asked not to attend a DLSA game or practice.  All attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing.

Guidelines:

  1. Common surfaces will be disinfected upon arrival to dugout and at the end of each game.
  2. The sharing of bats, batting helmets, and water bottles is prohibited.
  3. DLSA will make available hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes, but it is encouraged that parents provide their players with these supplies and players will be encouraged to wash in between innings.
  4. Bleachers will be off limits to spectators.The bleachers will be used as extended dugouts to allow for social distancing.Where bleachers are not available, players will be asked to observe social distancing when possible.
  5. Dugouts will be cleaned up arrival and conclusion of each game/practice.
  6. All player equipment and belongings will not be allowed in dugout cubbies.These items must remain in player bag.Parents are encouraged to clean these items in between practices and games.
  7. Spectators, players, staff, and umpires are asked to maintain social distancing before, during, and after each event.
  8. Only one coach will conduct the pregame meeting and observe social distancing.These meeting will be eliminated when possible.
  9. Each team will use its own softball during game play.This ball will be switched out after 3 innings.Umpires will be asked to refrain from retrieving the ball and allow catcher and other players to do so.Foul balls will be retrieved by a player or coach and spectators are asked to not retrieve foul balls.
  10. Only 2 catchers will be used each game.DLSA will provide each team with 2 catcher’s facemask which will be disinfected between every game.
  11. Social distancing will be observed where possible and contact drills will be limited during practice sessions.
  12. The use of clothe face coverings by coaches and staff is encouraged when social distancing cannot be observed.
  13. The use of sunflower seeds and gum is prohibited, and spitting is discouraged.Coughing and sneezing is encouraged into a tissue or inside of the elbow.
  14. There will be no end of game handshake and personal contact celebrations will be discouraged.
  15. Coaches and player families asked to self-report to DLSA if they have symptoms of COVID-19, a positive test for COVID-19, or were exposed to someone with COVD-19 within the last 14 days in accordance with health information sharing regulations for COVD-19.
